Six kindergartners missing - without a trace - parents waiting desperately for them to step off the empty bus - how could this happen?? It's a headline story if ever there was one.
Over the course of eleven years, families have done everything in their power to find their children, but each day has brought them closer to the realization that they are gone for good. Dead? Living in a cellar somewhere? Living a life as someone else's child, sister, brother?
Yet, the unimaginable happens - they return. Well, five of them return. With no memories of where they have been, of who held them captive, of what happened over the course of eleven years, or of where Max (the sixth) is.
Memory is a tricky thing, and each day after their return, Scarlett, Lucas, Adam, Kristin and Sarah struggle with their lack of memories, snapshots of possible memories, what it means to have no childhood, and whether they will ever know the truth.
