Review: Still Life with Tornado

Tornado: (noun) a person or thing characterized by violent or devastating action or emotion.

Sarah is a sixteen year old in crisis. She's an artist who can't make art. She stopped going to school, and instead wanders the streets of Philadelphia. Her brother left the family six years ago and is living in Oregon. Oh, and she has been hanging out with her 10 year old self, her 23 year old self, and her 40 year old self.

Sarah's surfacing memories of her past, and the domestic abuse that defined it, along with glimpses into her future, all mixed in with snippets of her present, tell the sometimes chaotic, yet true to form story of a teen who is trying to make sense out of things that don't make any sense at all.

Mature teens will relate to Sarah and might just find glimpses of themselves in her.
