The second title in the Southern Reach Trilogy takes readers deeper into the mystery known as Area X. John Rodriguez (aka "Control") is the new acting Director of Southern Reach, and is sent in to investigate the disappearance of the previous director and question the biologist who mysteriously reappeared from the last expedition. Filled with paranoia, science, and dysfunction, the Southern Reach and its cast of misfit characters keeps readers guessing even after the last page is turned.
