As both an educator and a parent, I often think about the impact of screens (TVs, phones, video games, computers, etc.) on my kids (the biological ones and the hundreds I see each day). Since I consider myself a techie at heart, it does pain me a bit to tell them to step away from the screen, but I know that limiting screen time is vital for health, and probably for happiness as well. I recently came across an
article from the
HuffPost Screen Sense blog (that's about a year old), and found that it pretty much supported my concerns.
I'm not saying that screens are totally evil, but I do feel that moderation is key. As an ed tech advocate, I often question how the educational world can provide balance for students when it comes to technology for learning vs. mental and physical health.
All I know is that it's time for me to step away from the screen for a while!
